Entrepreneur

When I think of an entrepreneur I think of Lord Alan Sugar, Lady Karren Brady, Bill Gates, Deborah Meaden, I certainly don’t think of me.

Dictionary definition of an entrepreneur: a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of making profit.

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” (Unknown)

this is so true, although I work longer hours than some of my corporate friends because I’m passionate about what I do it doesn’t feel like a chore.

The Challenge

everyday is different, every bake, client, call and email are different. I’ve created a brand, I’ve learned/learning how to market myself and my business and learnt whole lot of new skills along the way.

What I imagined it would be like!

Before I set up my own business I envisaged long lunches with the girls, days out in the sun, shorter hours and doing something I thoroughly enjoy. 1out of 4 isn’t bad (Right)?

Reality

The longest hours I’ve ever worked, calls and emails at all hours with sometimes rude replies if I haven’t responded at 3am! Working at the strangest times (macarons don’t like humidity but 2am seems to work). Working with and for some of the nicest people, making new friends, no long lunches sipping cocktails, rare days in the sun, the odd trip to the salon, time with my family (even if it is the strangest hours).

I wouldn’t change if for the world, I love my job, I thoroughly enjoy what I do and I’m really proud of how far I’ve come in a short space of time!
